Destinations

Destinations control where district-owned notifications appear. A notification can be directed to all district and school websites, a group of websites such as all high schools, or one school. This allows precise delivery without changing which organization owns the notification.

Only messaging owned by the Academy District 20 organization can be directed to destinations. When another organization owns a message, CommCenter clears destination selections and displays an explanation. All notification publishing is also restricted to the district organization.

Destination List

The destination list includes every district school and the district website. It also includes a District Wide selection that covers the district and all school websites. District-owned destinations appear first in the message settings list.

Destination Groups

Administrators can create either a Single domain destination or a Multiple domains destination group. For a group, select at least two domains from existing school destinations. Group choices show their number of domains when used in message settings.

Create a single-school destination while that school is selected so the destination has the correct owner. Create a cross-organization destination group while Academy District 20 is selected. Give groups descriptive names, and update them when school domains change.

Troubleshooting Notifications

If a notification has been published but is not showing on its intended website, confirm that:

  • Academy District 20 was selected when the notification was created or edited
  • the intended single destination, destination group or District Wide option is selected
  • the publish and expiration dates include the current time
  • a page or floating notification has the categories or tags required for its placement
