Channels

Channels are a unique form of a category. They are used to differentiate announcemnts, features, and notifications.

Channels are set automatically

In general, channels are set automatically when creating an announcement, feature or notification. For example, when using the 'Create Announcement' button, this creates a message preloaded with the channel of 'announcement'. Similarly, the channel will be set when creating a feature or a notification.

Changing the Channel

In some instances, it may be advantageous to turn an exisitng announcemnt into a feature by adding or changing the message, adding imagery, and changing the channel from 'announcement' to 'feature'. The channel change simply tells that message whether to show up in an announcement feed or in a feature feed.

There is generally no need change the channel on a notification as these message are usually very different that announcements or features.
