# Announcements

# Purpose

Announcements are meant to convey a timely message. Great for news items, program or policy changes and other types of timely information. Announcements should help someone do something. Think of announcements as "the schools business."

Generally these are imminent or upcoming items.

Examples include:

  • A reminder to order a school yearbook by a particular deadline.
  • A message to parents about helping their student be prepared during CMAS testing week.

# Attributes

An announcement is one way of sharing a message. It is expected to be short-lived and can have a set expirations or will naturally fall out of relevance depending on its creation date. Announcements emphasize text, not images, and they are focused on a narrow topic.

Unless imagery is required to understand the content or context of the message, images and videos should not be used in announcements.

Announcements can appear in feeds on multiple pages on a website depending on their category.

Once published, each announcement will have its own unique url which can be used to direct visitors to that specific content.
